Mardy Eger pleads guilty to EmpowerCoin & JetCoin fraud

Mardy Eger, aka Marquis Demarking Egerton, has pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering with concealment.

The charges were filed against Eger in early 2022, as part of a group of indictments targeting EmpowerCoin, ECoinPlus and JetCoin scammers.

Eger (right) signalled to the court he intended to plead guilty in May 2023. A Change of Plea hearing was subsequently scheduled for July 13th, at which Eger pled guilty.

At the conclusion of the hearing, the US Probation Department was ordered to file a Presentence Investigation Report by January 15th, 2024.

At time of publication there is no indication on Eger’s case docket that this filing was made. Pending scheduling of his sentencing, Eger remains out on bail.

In addition to his pending criminal sentence, Eger was sued by the CFTC on related fraud charges in March 2022. The CFTC’s civil fraud against Eger has been stayed pending conclusion of criminal proceedings.

Eger’s co-defendants William White and Greg Aggesen have also pled guilty. Remaining defendant Dwayne Golden maintains his innocence and is heading towards trial.

Following an April 16th Minute Entry, Golden’s trial scheduling will be set on April 23rd.
