Gilbert Armenta’s OneCoin forfeiture tops $50 million

A consented to preliminary order has pegged Gilbert Armenta’s OneCoin forfeiture at over $50 million {dollars}.

Armenta’s preliminary forfeiture order follows Armenta receiving a 5 12 months jail sentence final month.

By means of his responsible plea, Armenta (proper) consented to being held answerable for

  1. $300 million collectively with co-conspirators Ruja Ignatova, Konstantin Ignatov and Karl Sebastian Greenwood;
  2. $10 million collectively with co-conspirator Mark Scott; and
  3. $98 million collectively with co-conspirators Christopher Hamilton and Robert McDonald

Filed on March 1st, the order particulars ~$40.8 million in forfeiture plus extra property:

  • $40 million Armenta surrendered to the DOJ in August 2018;
  • $803,500 Armenta surrendered to the DOJ in December 2018;
  • a 4 bed room dwelling in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with an estimated $3.2 million worth;

  • a 5 bed room beachfront property in Fort Lauderdale Florida, with an estimated $6.4 million worth;

  • a Hermes Etoupe 35cm Togo Birkin Taupe Gold luxurious bag ($20,000 to $30,000 new);
  • a Hermes Pink Alligator luxurious bag (~$80,000 to $120,000 new);
  • a Hermes Birkin 35 luxurious purse (~$20,000 new);
  • a Cartier necklace;
  • a gold coloured bangle;
  • a Bulgari necklace;
  • a set of JAR Paris rose earrings (~$12,000 to $25,000 used); and
  • a gold coloured “hyperlink necklace”

The whole quantity ordered in Armenta’s forfeiture is roughly $50.4 million.

Armenta surrendered the luxurious luggage and jewellery to the DOJ in January 2018. Given these are used items of unknown high quality, I haven’t factored them into forfeiture calculations (though they’re very a lot a part of Armenta’s forfeiture settlement).
