Payza money laundering indictment resolutions on horizon

Our last update on the Payza indictments was Firoz Patel pleading not guilty back in January.

Since then negotiations have been going on behind the scenes, leading towards what will likely be a plea bargain.

On November 9th the DOJ filed a consent motion requesting a status conference date extension.

The status conference had been scheduled for November 14th. The DOJ’s motion requested that date be postponed till December 16th or later.

The request for the extension as quoted in the motion is additional time

to allow the parties to conclude a potential resolution to the matter.

The parties have made substantial progress during the excluded and anticipate reaching a resolution.

On November 12th the motion was granted, rescheduling the status conference to January 10th, 2020.

Whether a resolution is reached prior to January 20th remains to be seen.
